4 branding tips for your real estate Facebook Page
Your brand communicates more than you may realize.
Because some people neglect branding, their Facebook Pages can end up communicating things that their owners probably didn’t intend.
Things like I-threw-this-together-on-the-fly, or I’m not very professional, or I love kittens…and houses too.
With Facebook, real estate professionals get to market their businesses and tell their stories with branded business Pages. However, some agents and brokers give little attention to branding their Pages.
But your brand is a big deal! It’s your reputation, the visuals you use, the way you communicate…it’s everything from your logo and color schemes to the way you treat people. It’s like a business card that gets filed in the minds of your potential clients so they say something like “Oh yeah, he’s the South-Side REALTOR®” or “You’re the ‘Sally Sells’ lady.”
Branding helps people remember you, and branding matters on social media.
Good branding helps build trust… and it could even help you win more listings.
And we all know Facebook’s big and we should be on it, but understanding how to get more out of it may be the next challenge for you.
There’s a lot you could do to grow your brand on Facebook, but you need to start somewhere…
1. Be consistent
Make sure that your Facebook Page follows any branding requirements set forth by your brokerage or real estate company. Keep your color schemes, layouts, and logos consistent across all of your social media channels.
And if possible, represent yourself the same way across all of the online platforms you’re using. For example, if you’re calling yourself “Sally Jones” on Facebook and “The Milwaukee Realty Team” on other online profiles, you run the risk of confusing potential clients about who you are and the services you provide.
2. Optimize Your Page
Optimizing your Page means that you’re taking advantage of all of the space and tools Facebook is giving you, and you’re using your Page’s assets to get people to engage with your Page.
Here are some tips:
- Review and update your profile image. Use a high-quality picture that is “170×170 pixels on your Page on computers, 128×128 pixels on smartphones and 36×36 pixels on most feature phones” (Facebook¹). And make sure to use the same current headshot across all of your online media channels.
- Use a high-quality image for your cover photo that is “820 pixels wide by 312 pixels tall on your Page on computers and 640 pixels wide by 360 pixels tall on smartphones” (Facebook¹).
- In order to make it easy for people to communicate with you, fill in every relevant field with as much information as possible.
3. Use video to build your brand
Video is a great way to visually build your brand on Facebook. From Facebook Live broadcasts to simply uploading videos, getting into the video game could help differentiate your brand from the competition.
Here are a couple of ideas:
- Create a short, branded video and pin it to the top of your Facebook Page. This could be a testimonial or an “about me” video. Be sure to include your contact information at the beginning and end of the video.
- Create a video review of a local shop, eatery, or event, and post it to Facebook. Include a local hashtag related to that event or location.
4. Create some habits
Social media marketing requires a sustained investment of time and energy. So get into the habit of doing things on Facebook that build your brand.
Try these ideas out for starters:
- Interview every client you’ve worked with and create testimonial videos. Use your smartphone to create quick, low-key videos that capture your clients’ happy moments, and then post them to Facebook.
- Keep things current. Use a mix of photo, video, and text posts to let buyers know about new listings, price changes, open houses, etc.
- Make sure every listing you have is online, and promote them all on Facebook. You could even win more listings by showing potential sellers how you use your Facebook Page as a selling tool.
- Use automation to ensure all your listings and listing updates are published to your Page quickly and easily.
